Also! Oliver, I think that it would be cool if I could comment on a certain part of the log and not just on the whole project in its self. What does everyone think about that idea?

Weeeellll...that was a hard decision. The idea was that for small projects you don't get a lot of comments, so it's more valuable to have a single, continuous discussion. If comments were attached to log entries then the conversation would reset every time there's a new entry because new readers won't go back to the previous entry's discussion thread. I would like to come up with some kind of hybrid of the two ideas but I haven't thought of anything yet.

wellll what about if you were able to comment on that discussion but it shows a little image or "preview" type thing in the comment then people would know what part they are commenting on? Ryan and I were discussing that option...? just trying to help! I dont want to come off annoying..

Ok yeah, I could definitely put in something like "Replying to post X" with a link back to the log entry. I also want to put condensed log entries in the discussion page, so in between some comments there might be a link back to the log entry that happened at that time, like a timeline kind of.

And it's not annoying, I like getting feedback!

Yeah, I think being able to comment on a specific post is important. You could always just add "Comments" to individual posts and "Discussion" for the project as a whole.

Maybe the discussion tab could be like a forum where you can create multiple topics, and each log entry could have its own topic. I think that would be better for really big projects where a single thread could get out of hand. It would be overkill for small projects, though. I'll wait and see if the single-thread model really bugs people before changing anything - gotta work through the backlog for the minimum viable product first!

Hey - we wireframed/partially-solved for this already you sillies! Each initial comment here is suppose to link back to the post it's in reference too w/ a link "Refer to log." And the discussion thread under an initial comment should be indented a lil. But also, good job styling these comments Oliver!

And I like Jack's solve for this too. Although, we'd have to make comments in a collapsable tab off of each post because pages would scroll for days!

The logo should have something to do with logs, because it is called devlogs.

I agree. Kaitlyn, get to work! Also I think I might change the name to sideprojects.com or something similar that is available. These .io domains are too expensive.

I totally agree, Tim and Scott talked about that the domains a lot last night.

I edited the settings for several of my projects and thought it had worked, but now several days later I checked back and it didn't. I think each time I clicked "Save", it reloaded the page with a "This field is required" message (for the tags, which I guess were empty), which I didn't notice, and just thought it was showing me the newly saved settings. Maybe the fact that the save didn't go through could be made more visible somehow?

A couple of things:

(1) Would it be possible to resize project thumbnails to fit their containers? Currently they seem to be getting chopped off at the edges. Or maybe you could select what part of the project image would appear in the thumbnail, like with a Facebook profile picture.

(2) It might be good to include new projects in "Recently Updated", even if they have no log posts yet. There were some new projects that I didn't realize existed because I was just checking "Recently Updated" and they didn't appear there.

Thanks for this site!
